Movie Monday 4/25

I hope everyone had a nice Easter (or Passover).  We spent ours on the road and arrived at my father-in-law's house in time for a nice little Easter dinner with him.

We had a good trip here and really enjoyed camping along the way.  We miss our little pop-up camper during the winter months!  And we had a wonderful dinner Saturday night with some good friends in Arkansas - friends that we met through this blog!  Their 17-year old daughter has CFS and is actually doing very well these days.  It was great to see them, and I discovered a new treat: fried pickles (really!) - yum.

Not much time for movies last week since we were busy preparing for our journey.  The kids were home sick (Craig for two days and Jamie all week), so they watched some movies during the day, but I was so busy I don't even remember what they watched.  So, just one movie to report on:
  • Last night, we watched The Tourist with my father-in-law.  I'd heard mixed reviews of this recent thriller starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, but we all enjoyed it.  The scenery in Venice was stunning, there was plenty of humor in it, and though it seemed predictable at first, it had a few tricks up its sleeve that surprised us.  All in all, a fun movie.
Have you seen any good movies lately?

(If you're interested in what we're reading this week, check out the Monday post on my book blog.)

Since the guys were gone this weekend I watch a couple of chick flicks that I like: The Lake House and Ever After. I liked both enough to have purchased the DVDs last year sometime. The first is an odd time travel romance and the second is a retelling of Cinderella with some excellent performances.

Sue,

I'm glad you had a fun holiday. Our Easter holiday was very low key. My husband and I stayed home and tackled some spring cleaning. We did take many breaks to watch the mini-series, "Pillars of the Earth." I read the book so I was excited to watch it. It was quite addicting and we zipped through it. I told my husband he needs to read "World Without End" before they make it into a mini-series! I just started reading his new novel, Fall of Giants. Not loving it as much as the others so far.

Baffled -

I like The Lake House, too. I'm a big fan of Sandra Bullock.

Amanda -

I've been meaning to read Pillars of the Earth for ages! The size has intimidated me. I thought his latest sounded good, too - let me know if it grows on you!

Hi Sue
Glad you have had such a good time camping again.....we watched the Hallmark movie Sunday night, Beyond The Blackboard...which was really really good and of course a tear jerker as usual.

Fried pickles?

OMG, I can't even imagine what that would taste like!

Erik -

I know - I had no idea what to expect, but they were so good!!! Dill pickle slices, deep fried, with a tartar sauce-like dip - heavenly!

And how nice that all that sodium is good for me - one of the few benefits of OI!
